World Economic Outlook: Growth Projections by Region (April 2025)

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released its latest global economic projections as of April 2025, showing a mixed picture of regional growth prospects over the coming years.

Global Growth is expected to slow to 2.8% in 2025, down from 3.3% in 2024, before moderately improving to 3.0% in 2026.

In the United States, growth is projected to decelerate significantly, from 2.8% in 2024 to 1.8% in 2025, and further down to 1.7% in 2026, reflecting tightening financial conditions and subdued demand.

The Euro Area also faces sluggish expansion, with GDP growth of just 0.9% in 2024, 0.8% in 2025, and a slight recovery to 1.2% by 2026.

By contrast, the Middle East and Central Asia are forecast to see steady improvements, from 2.4% in 2024 to 3.5% in 2026, buoyed by ongoing reforms and stronger oil revenues.

Emerging and Developing Asia remains the standout performer, although growth is projected to slow from 5.3% in 2024 to 4.5% in 2025, before stabilizing at 4.6% in 2026. This region continues to be a critical driver of global economic momentum.

Latin America and the Caribbean are expected to grow at a more moderate pace, with growth easing from 2.4% in 2024 to 2.0% in 2025, then rebounding slightly to 2.4% in 2026.

Finally, Sub-Saharan Africa is projected to maintain relatively robust growth rates, moving from 4.0% in 2024 to 4.2% by 2026, highlighting its resilience amid global headwinds.
